The Orlando Predators took on the Jacksonville Sharks at the Amway Center Friday night. Sharks quarterback Jonathan Bane coming off an injury from the last Predators-Sharks meeting was not 100% for the game, but he showed a lot of guts throwing the game’s opening touchdown pass to wide receiver Devin Wilson. The first three scoring plays for the Sharks were a stunning example and description of how the night would go.
After the opening touchdown pass from Jonathan Bane to Devin Wilson, the Sharks defense scored a safety on the Predators offense and Sharks kicker Brandon Behr scored two points on a deuce (a kickoff that goes through the uprights) and the Sharks were off and running with an early 11-0 lead over the Predators and never looked back. Orlando rookie quarterback Bryan Hicks played good in spots and showed some improvement with some scoring plays but the Sharks defense was too much for Orlando most of the night. One of my favorite touchdowns of the night was a pass from Sharks quarterback Jonathan Bane to fullback Alstevis Squire that put the icing on the cake as the Jacksonville Sharks won 48-20 over the Orlando Predators.
Two weeks ago in Jacksonville after an outstanding night throwing the ball Jonathan Bane was rumored to have an ACL injury that turned out to be false. After the swelling went down it turned out to be a sprained knee according to Bane but this was reported to me after the victory in Orlando, due to team privacy issues. Bane hopes to keep getting healthy and back to 100% for the playoff push as the Sharks are near the top of the National Arena League (NAL) standings with a 5-1 record.
